Wanted to let yall know that Zac went to be with Jesus Sunday (May 16th). I also wanted to thank all of you that have been praying for him and his family. I want to encourage all of yall to continue to pray for his wife and 3 kids. Zac’s memorial service will be held at Newspring Church (Anderson Campus) May 18th at 4. It will also be shown on Newspring’s website at that time. Thank yall for your prayers and continue to pray for Perry (he’s preaching the memorial service) and Zac’s Newspring family.

Zac Smith story [3/11/10]

Hey guys! :] Hope everyone is having an awesome week! Let’s start with the story of Zac Smith.

WOW…God is GOOD!

Zac posted the most tear jerking blog I’ve ever read in my life today and it explains the parts of his story that I can’t explain..

After reading that I think that we should just take a minute to pray to have the faith that Zac has! I’m praying for God to heal Zac and to continue to give him the awesome faith that he has! In Zac’s eyes God has given him the GIFT of cancer! That’s so amazing. I hope that Zac’s story will give everyone, including me, the ability to see life in a new way, to see that EVERYTHING God has given us is a gift and a blessing. I’m asking you guys to really lift Zac up in prayer and ask others to pray for him. But most importantly remember that God has given us many, many, many gifts and that EVERYTHING God gives us is a gift even if it is not the gift you want. God is God and God is Good!

Something to be praying about! [2/17/10]

I have a friend (Emily Fincher) that is really hoping to be part of an internship this summer with Transitions Global ( which will require her to go to Cambodia. Emily is an AMAZING person who really deserves this opportunity! There is so much Emily could do to help the women and children who have survived sex trafficking. The mission of Transitions Global is to empower survivors of sex trafficking with the opportunity to heal and recapture the most basic of human rights: freedom and hope. What an awesome mission! Emily will only be gone one week but one week is enough time to change lives! So, in your quiet time, when you’re reading this, or before work/school please, please, please take a moment to pray for Emily and all the organizations that are taking a stand with sex trafficking!

something pressing on my heart today [2/16/10]

In homeroom this morning I had a conversation with someone who i’ve talked to about church a few times and i’ve never really given it much thought.. Anyway, I was telling this person about the children’s ministry and the little boy who was talking about being saved (referring to children’s ministry blog) and this person (jokingly) said “should’ve asked him why he needs to be saved!” My reply to that was “everyone needs to be saved..” (Then I noticed the person getting squirmy..) I thought about that comment all day and on my way home I was listening to a cd message from @BCooP and God laid it on my heart that this is the way a lot of people feel about Christ. That we don’t need to be saved. There are WAY too many people in the world that don’t know Christ! There are also WAY too many people who don’t know the meaning of being saved. So I’m challenging myself (and you) to invite someone to church or ask someone what being saved means to them.. In the words of @BCooP: be comfortable with a constant state of discomfort. Step outside of your comfort zone and do what God has called you to do!

Mark 16:15-16 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news of all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Children’s ministry [2/14/10]

I got the chance to experience @Kidspring for the first time on Valentines day and …WOW! If you want to be completely shocked by what God is doing at Newspring, this is DEFINITELY the place you need to go! I expected a few questions like “is God tttttttttttthhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssss big?” or “what does that mean?” I was COMPLETELY caught off gaurd when one of the kids asked “how do you know when God is talking to you?” This was coming from a little second grade child! I was even more shocked when one of them started talking about getting saved and about how cool that was! Once again, you must remember that we are talking about a second grader! None of this was the most surprising to me though, the most amazing part to me was when they got into their small groups and they were asked “what do you like to do on the weekends other than come to church?” although most of the answers were expected (four-wheelers, play stations, video games, etc.) one answered “I like to talk to God.” That answer was not something I expected to hear.

God is TRUELY blessing these children and the amazing staff and volunteers that work with them! These kids don’t make you feel like a stranger because they have never seen you, they make you feel like you’ve been in their small group since day one! Once again, if you go to Newspring and you are looking for a VERY moving experience, I very strongly recommend the children’s ministry! :]
